Handmade Nation presented by The Maximalists

To our great delight we sold every last ticket available to The Maximalists screening of Handmade Nation last Saturday evening. Puppeteers, designers, writers, photographers, artists, etsians, crafters and art enthusiasts attended the afternoon screening at 15 William Street. The creativity in the room was palpable.

We sipped prosecco, mixed, mingled and networked after the film - well into the evening! Our very 1st design-centric event = A SUCCESS!

ABCD did an entire review of the evening at ABCD Design earlier this week. Check it out!

Handmade Nation Screening April 10th

The Maximalists ~ an art, craft and design-centric event consortium founded by ABC Dragoo and Lydia Barry kutko are pleased to present a screening of Handmade Nation on Saturday, April 10, 2010. Join fellow New York creatives for Cocktails & Conversation, a gathering geared toward building personal and business relationships through events centered in the arts.

Artist, author and now-director Faythe Levine covered 19,000 miles and 15 cities, documenting the current rise of DIY culture sweeping the country. Today’s handmade movement has emerged as a synthesis of historical technique, punk culture, and the DIY ethos, heavily influenced by traditional handiwork, modern aesthetics, politics, feminism and art. As this wave gains momentum, come share skills and form strategic alliances with inspired entrepreneurs and creatives just like you.

The ultra chic screening studio, easily reached by 1,2,3, JMZ, 4/5 and R/W subway stops in the Financial District, boasts plush seating and a warm environment to relax and socialize.

The Maximalists will host a matinee screening with a cocktail meet & greet hour afterwards for everyone to enjoy. Space is limited to 35 seats.

A Smashing Evening

What a smashing (or should we say, slashing?) evening! The Museum of Art & Design has never witnessed such a turned out crowd - nor, from what your rave reviews proclaimed, had there been such a mesmerizing exhibition as Slash: Paper Under the Knife.

It was a delight to see friendships made and business partnerships formed. All under a canopy of architectural paperworks and an abundance of heady wines, which were sure to elevate the mood!

The Maximalists are pleased to announce a forthcoming networking evening for New York creatives early Spring 2010. Stay tuned.
